Sorocaba is one of the biggest Brazilian cities, both in population or as a source of wealth. At 91km (56 miles) far from São Paulo and 88 km (54 miles) from Campinas, Sorocaba is one extreme of the triangle that composes a strong economic activity, growing social and cultural development, thanks to the fast technological advances and understanding, beyond the access by air, by sea/river or by land which make easier to distribute products.
The city has the basic rule of development around São Paulo Capital: it is close enough to reach the consumers and far enough to not pay metropolitan prices.
Populated with approximately 460.000 inhabitants, is the forth bigger city of São Paulo State outside the metropolitan area and it is a regional pole of many others emerging towns in the State. Approximately 1.400 industries are actually operating in Sorocaba, the majority inside the Industrial Park. There are 25 millions of square meters, served with electricity, telephone, public transport, water and drain system and sanitary landfill for industrial residues.
Sorocaba is not strong only in the industrial sector, but its business makes the city (income per person of US$ 6,500.00) a regional center that attracts consumers, generating a great amount of sales on Shopping Centers, Retail, Supermarkets and Convenient Shopping, etc. The service industry is intense and various. The city stands out because of its extensive network of bank agencies, hotels, schools, hospitals and specialized clinics.
